330 pages; Near Fine/Near Fine. Outside page edges lightly age tanning. Attractive black on light brown paper covered boards with bright gilt lettering. Boards are straight, tips are pointed, spine is square and pages are clean. DJ has tiny bit shelf top back edge. Now in protective sleeve. An excellent gift! Many black and white photos and documents. The way in which people view the conduct of World War II was radically altered by the revelation, in 1974, that the British had broken the German ciphers early in the war and the Intelligence material garnered in this fashion - known as Ultra - was crucial to the Allied war effort. The Americans had penetrated, even before Pearl Harbor, the Japanese codes. This material, known collectively as Magic, was an important to the victory over Japan as Ultra was to the Allied success in Europe.
